St. Stephen Medals, St. Stephen Medallions and Pendants
We draw strength from our patron saints, who support us in our faith journey. We are encouraged by their virtues and comforted by their intercession to God for us in prayer. Saint medals remind us of a patron saints courage and fortitude and help us to follow their example.
As the first Christian martyr, St. Stephen sets a precedent for many of us. Though falsely accused and condemned by his enemies, St. Stephen remained fixed on God and prayed for the forgiveness of his enemies as he was being stoned to death. Because of his unwavering faith and willingness to forgive, a medal of St. Stephen may provide strength and encouragement for a person facing unjust circumstances.
Deacons turn to St. Stephen for intercession because he is their
patron saint. One of the first deacons of the Christian Church,
St. Stephen was publicly acknowledged by the Church as a man of
good reputation, full of the Holy Ghost and Wisdom (Acts
6:3). Many who heard St. Stephen preach became followers of Jesus
Christ. A deacon may wear a st stephen medal to help him in his
ministry.
An equestrian or horse lover may have a medal of St. Stephen
to aid in the care of their horse. It is believed that Jesus miraculously
cured a horse that belonged to St. Stephen and since the early
middle ages, St. Stephen was venerated the patron of horses.
Headache sufferers and stonemasons may also turn to St. Stephen for help, as he is the patron saint of both.
